Announcing my community organizing podcast

For the past few months, I’ve published a weekly newsletter full of tips and tricks to help you get the most out of NationBuilder’s community organizing platform. It’s been really fun for me to work on, and based on the feedback I’ve gotten it seems to be useful for my subscribers, as well. And that’s awesome, because the whole point was to help people feel more confident in using the platform to make a difference in their own community.

But to really get the most out of a platform like NationBuilder you need more than just a sense of the capabilities of the product: you need a sound strategy informed by best practices and experience. You need to be able to see the whole forest — not just the trees.

In my newsletter, I often write with an assumption that my readers understand why they ought to the things I’m teaching them how to do. But often, that’s not the case. And I’d like to address that, as well.

So starting in the next few weeks, I’ll be starting a weekly podcast to dig into the power of communities and the nuts & bolts of community organizing. The plan is to talk to organizers around the world about what worked for them, what didn’t, and the strategy, tools, and tactics they employed in their efforts. I hope that hearing from others about their successes (and struggles!) will inspire you to be a leader in your own community, as well.

If you’re interested, you can sign up for get new episodes by email at ianpatrickhines.com/podcast. Once it’s live, you’ll be able to subscribe via Soundcloud and iTunes, as well.

(And if you’re interested in coming on the show, I’d love to have you. Drop me a line at hello@ianpatrickhines.com.)
