I’ve heard it said that the day you stop learning new things is the day you start to die. And I’m not ready to die any time soon.
For the past eighteen months, I have worked full time on NationBuilder: first as an employee and now as a freelance consultant. I love it, and I’m getting better at it all the time. But I don’t want to get complacent, either.
I want to learn new things every day: to tackle new design challenges and push my own limits. That’s why — starting this week — I’m expanding my freelance services to include custom Shopify themes.
Where NationBuilder gives you all the tools you need to organize your community, Shopify gives you everything you need to run a successful business. Merchants can upload products, customize their store, accept credit cards, and track their orders. It’s exciting stuff.
But what’s most exciting for me is how Shopify works under the hood. Shopify themes are powered by Liquid Markup, the same language that powers NationBuilder themes. I’ve found that it’s like sliding into the seat of a new car: different than your old one, but familiar, intuitive, and easy to use. That’ll allow me to focus on solving new design challenges without having to worry about learning new languages, frameworks, etc. I’m really looking forward to it.
So if you — or someone you know — is looking to set up an online store, say hello. Small businesses, campaign’s & non-profit selling merch, etc. I’d love to work with you.
